Operations Field Technician

Description

Lucite International has developed a world first new proprietary process route, called Alpha Technology, for the production of Methyl Methacrylate (MMA). The world first Alpha MMA plant on Jurong Island is now seeking to recruit an Operations Field Technician to join our team.

Key Responsibilities

To support the Operations Supervisor in operating the chemical processing plant to ensure quality product and to meet business targets. This includes:

  • Operating and monitoring the equipments to ensure that the process is operating within defined conditions and product specifications
  • Working with the Operations DCS Technician to deal efficiently and effectively with any deviation in process parameters to ensure ‘zero’ safety, health and environmental incidents
  • Patrolling and inspection of field equipment and data logging
  • Sampling of the process and conducting analysis
  • Housekeeping and PPM of assigned area
  • Loading and unloading of raw materials
  • Minor maintenance
  • Preparing plant equipment for release to maintenance crew
  • Perform inspection and audit to meet corporate safety and local legislation guidelines
  • Being a member of the Site Emergency Response Team.

Essential qualifications and experience

  • Minimum GCE ‘O’ level with credit in Chemistry or Nitec
  • 2-5 years field operations experience in a high hazard chemical plant would be advantageous
  • Commitment and adherence to safety systems
  • Strong analytical thinking, practical problem-solving and good communication skills
  • Conversant with world class SHE and Operational principles relevant to the operation of a high hazard plant
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline and multi-cultural team in a high pressure environment
  • Good command of English and computer literacy
  • Able to perform shift work.

Our manufacturing teams are at the very center of our business and of our success. As such, the recruitment of an Operations Manager to lead our dedicated and experienced operations team at the largest site in the America’s region is a key appointment for us.


About the role

The successful applicant will be an integral part of the Site Leadership Team and is the focal point for determining the required production and volume targets based on sales forecast, equipment limitations, inventory space, required maintenance and inspection activities and operating budget. Proposes and ensures implementation of improvements to minimize the production costs while attaining production goals to meet customer’s needs in accordance with all Safety and Environmental requirements.

You will motivate the workforce through visibility and direct contact to ensure maximum safety and productivity while fostering an environment that develops, trains and coaches Production Engineers and staff for future needs within the organization. Most importantly, provide leadership and purpose to our committed colleagues across the Beaumont site.

You will be fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety, security, health and environment and will be responsible for SHE standards relating to operations. A BS Degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is preferred and ten plus years of Operations Manager experience in a Manufacturing or Chemical Plant environment will be essential to your success in this role. Position requires individual with strong communication skills in order to effectively provide team briefings, conduct meetings, write reports and exchanging information with all levels of the organization. Individuals must have in-depth knowledge plant equipment function, maintenance technology as well as an appreciation of engineering issues. Demonstrated knowledge of operating and technical disciplines such as Process Safety Management and technical documentation is required along with the demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects.

Fundamentally you will be a strong leader with great interpersonal effectiveness and the ability to motivate and inspire your team by creating common goals. You will be a strategic thinker with a results orientated, proactive approach, anticipating needs and addressing them before they become critical to performance.

Systems Engineer – Cordova, TN

As a result of continued business growth and internal movement, we are seeking to recruit a Systems Engineer to work at our Cordova administrative headquarters.


About the role

In this role you will be responsible for the management, maintenance, monitoring and improvement aspects for all Lucite Americas Wide Area Network and Local Area Network Connections. The role also requires the incumbent to maximize and steward the use of our Virtual Private Network and associated hardware. As the Region’s Systems Engineer, you will provide direction and oversight for our Internet browsing, as well as our Lotus Notes Administration. This role supports 8 servers, 421+ users, and over 400 machines throughout the Americas Region. The role has dimensional responsibilities for the entire security of all the networks and devices in the region.

We are passionate about Health, Safety and Environment and this role will play a key part in ensuring our safety standards, policies and procedures are fit for purpose and that our colleagues go home safely at the end of their working day. You will support the overall unit electrical power and instrument systems and management of change. You will work closely with Operations and Maintenance personnel to troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation issues. You will be an E&I resource with Engineering Department for site capital projects as well being a resource for our manufacturing colleagues when they require support.


About You

To be successful in this role, you will have significant previous experience in a similar role, preferably within the Chemical or Petrochemical industry and will have earned either a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology or its equivalent. This role requires you to be a confident communicator and leader and have an in depth knowledge of modern industrial data network design including Ethernet communications, database servers, web servers and wireless communications. As you would expect, as the expert in this field you will need to have significant demonstrable knowledge and experience in the following areas:-
• Lotus Notes administration or Microsoft Exchanges skills
• Extensive experience in a range of Network devices and services including LAN and WAN
• Widespread knowledge of firewalls and VPN connections as an administrator
• Secure Sockets Layer experience and administration skills
• Analytical Thinking abilities is an essential element in this role
• Critical Information Seeking skills for gathering critical information from key sources to assist in problem solving
• Customer Focus skills that concentrates on both our internal and external customers

Electrical Maintenance & Reliability Engineer – Beaumont

We are looking for an experienced Electrical Maintenance and Reliability Engineer to join our team in Beaumont and help continue our sites development and growth. You will be responsible for ensuring we meet or exceed Lucite and Industry engineering standards for the technical aspects of E&I maintenance work. This is a key role for us and you will work closely with colleagues across our business to identify, engineer and implement E&I solutions or improvements to equipment.

Working directly for the Site Maintenance & Reliability Manager, you will have proven experience gained within the Chemicals industry and will be confident in working with operations and maintenance colleagues to implement and improve the various manufacturing units and equipment.

We are passionate about Health, Safety and Environment and this role will play a key part in ensuring our safety standards, policies and procedures are fit for purpose and that our colleagues go home safely at the end of their working day. Mechanical Maintenance & Reliability Engineer – Beaumont

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Reliability Engineer to join our team in Beaumont and help continue our sites development and growth. You will be responsible for ensuring we meet or exceed Lucite and Industry engineering standards for the technical aspects of mechanical maintenance work. This is a key role for us and you will work closely with colleagues across our business to identify, engineer and implement mechanical solutions or improvements to equipment.

Working directly to the Site Maintenance & Reliability Manager, you will have proven experience gained within the Chemicals industry and will be confident in working with operations and maintenance colleagues to improve the reliability of both rotating and stationary equipment. You will be a change agent and comfortable with taking ownership and accountability for on-going and project work as the mechanical lead.

We are passionate about Health, Safety and Environment and this role will play a key part in ensuring our safety standards, policies and procedures are fit for purpose and that our colleagues go home safely at the end of their working day. You will lead our Process Hazard, Root Cause Failure analysis, and reliability maintenance studies, developing maintenance strategies to ensure assets are available to the business as required in an effort to achieve World Class reliability and maintenance effectiveness. You will create long range plans for mechanical equipment and provide adequate training for colleagues as well as being a resource for our manufacturing colleagues when they require support.


About You

You will have a strong background of mechanical systems, and an ABS in Mechanical Engineering is required. As such there will be significant opportunities to develop your career within our business, knowledge of Process Equipment, including piping, valves, pumps, tanks and pressure vessels is essential as well as an understanding of process safety management. 10+ years of experience in static equipment reliability is required, general understanding of metallurgy, and codal compliance (API 510 and API 570) is desired. You will have strong interpersonal skills, determination and an analytical approach to problem solving, making sure that the root cause is understood before actions are taken to rectify an issue. Most importantly you will be a self-starter with a desire to achieve results.
