Perspex® from Lucite® at Chelsea Flower Show 200729 May 2007 Southampton, UK Leading landscape gardner, Hasmead won a Bronze award at Chelsea Flower Show
for its Sand and Ice Garden, which highlighted the two extremes resulting
from climatic change; expanding deserts and melting glaciers. A focal point
in the garden was a modern ‘ice’ wall made from cool tones of Perspex with
water trickling over to represent slowly melting cracked ice. Sponsored by
Lucite International, the ‘ice’ wall featured Perspex from the company’s
Frost and Vario ranges and formed a stark contrast to the soft flowing lines
of the desert sands. The award winning garden was designed by Linda Bush
during the early days of the hose-pipe ban in Southern England in 2006,
taking inspiration from the Dry Garden at RHS Hyde Hall and Beth Chatto’s
Gravel Garden.
