Perspex® from Lucite® specified for new ‘Prestiges’ in Paris20 Aug 2007 Southampton, UK Lucite International’s French team has won a major contract to supply JCDecaux (JCD) with Perspex for the creation of 350 maxi-sized advertising billboards in Paris. Called ‘Prestiges’ because of their huge stature and visual impact, the new billboards are part of a much larger 10-year agreement that JCD has secured to manage all of the street furniture advertising across the city. The deal also involves the supply of 20,000 bicycles for the new Velib scheme, which aims to encourage Parisians to leave their cars behind and take the car instead.
Two extra large sheets of Perspex are used within a steel frame to create a box type structure for each Prestige. The maxi Perspex is manufactured at Lucite International’s facility at Clairvaux-les-Lacs in the Jura region of France, which also has the capacity to produce bespoke extra thick Perspex sheet to order.
