Students in China apply their design talents to acrylic21 Jun 2010 Southampton, UK Lucite International China (LIC)) has recognised the outstanding talent of students from six top material design institutes (Tsinghua University, Tongji University, East China Normal University, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, China Academy of Art and Nanjing Arts Institute) at the Company’s second design competition awards. The winning creation, Lipper by Yanxiang Xu from Normal University of East China, is an innovative piece of furniture, which illustrates the wonderful way that acrylic can be moulded to create smooth curves for comfort while providing strength and stability for its use as a seating structure. As part of the contest, the LIC team visited campuses to talk about the special characteristics of acrylics and the various fabrication processes. And participants visited acrylic manufacturing facilities to get first-hand experience of acrylics being made. LIC worked in close partnership with its customers and downstream partners, who donated free samples and materials. All eight winning models will be on display at ADEX 2010 in Shanghai from 7 July 2010.
