The manufacturing processes at Lucite International require us to have and continually review robust means of controlling major accident hazards. This allows us to be confident in our ability to manage process incidents that may:

  • Result in the release of significant quantities of hazardous materials and/or energy
  • Result in fires, explosions or toxic exposure
  • Have on- or off-site potential for any or all of the following: major injury, fatality, significant environmental impact, property damage and loss of production.

Important elements of PSM

Over the past two decades, we have placed increased emphasis on all aspects of safety and all of our site must comply with the Company’s SHE Standards. Focusing on the PSM framework provides additional security that our manufacturing processes are assessed for their potential risk and managed appropriately to avoid incidents.

SHE Standards exist for Hazard Studies and Cyclical Process Hazard Reviews along with various management techniques, including Quantified Risk Assessment and Safety Integrity Levels. Our own Guidelines for the Assessment of Risk and Occupied Buildings Assessments provide the framework for identifying, assessing the impact of and developing safeguards against Major Accident Hazard risks.
